The Series

Are you feeling tired, stressed, anxious, depressed or all of the above? Have you considered yoga, but felt it was not a space you could find healing because of all the exclusivity surrounding Yoga in our society? This space is made for you. Because yoga is for any body, any being, needing healing. We invite you to join us to learn and experience the therapeutic benefits of this ancient healing practice.  
 
Yoga is therapeutic.  The physical and psychological benefits of yoga are well documented and yoga has been shown to be effective for virtually every form of suffering experienced by human kind.  Our society portrays yoga as physical postures, however yoga is much more expansive than this. In fact physical movements are only one of the eight aspects, or limbs, of yoga. Yoga is the practice of quieting the mind, soothing the body, and finding peace in the soul.

Every other month, we will bring you a 2 hour therapeutic virtual mini-retreat, devoted to offering healing to all beings and bodies in these tumultuous and uncertain times. Participants are invited to experience the healing benefits of yoga within a trauma informed and therapeutic, virtual setting.  As your honored guide, Rebecca will offer breath work (pranayama), guided imagery (meditation), gentle yoga postures (asana), sayings or phrases to refocus an unsettled mind (mantra), yogic sleep (yoga nidra) and other techniques.  This supported practice is devoted to helping any body, and any being, feel a little more peace in this world.

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga therapy is a term used to describe the application of yoga principles and practices in a therapeutic manner. Yoga therapy may be applied to address physical or psychological conditions. Yoga therapy empowers the practitioner, through the practice of non-invasive techniques and procedures and may be curative and/or preventative in nature. The goals of yoga therapy are to reduce pain and suffering, and promote overall well being and quality of life. Yoga therapy has been shown to be impactful in increasing peace and harmony for the mind, body and soul.

About the practice

No yoga experience is required to participate.
Participants will be guided through gentle, restorative, Hatha inspired physical postures.
Participants will be instructed on how to practice various techniques, that may include but are not limited to: breath work, meditation, gentle physical movements, guided imagery, and others.
Should anything cause discomfort or pain during a retreat session, the participant may choose to opt out of an exercise. Suggestions for modifications will be offered throughout the course.
Attendees will attend without their cameras on, to ensure confidentiality and reduce feelings of vulnerability.

What to bring

Though you can absolutely attend without any props, we do recommend and suggest a few items to help facilitate your practice. These items may not be used in every session, but will be used in most.
Yoga mat (recommended)
Beach towel (recommended)
Cozy blanket (recommended)
A strap or a belt (recommended)
2 thick pillows (recommended)
An essential oil (suggestion)
A notebook and pen to take notes (suggestion)
An oil (ex: Almond, Coconut, Grape Seed, Jojoba) or a lotion (suggestion)
